Description

Indianola Amusement Park occupied the corner of N. 4th Street and E. 19th Avenue in the University District from 1905 to 1937. The park featured a dance pavilion, a huge swimming pool, an Ingersoll Figure 8 Roller Coaster, a carousel, a scenic railroad, a band shell, and athletic playing fields. In 1908, a theater was added to the park and Indianola began presenting vaudeville for its patrons. In 1909, a shoot-the-chutes ride, The Blue Streak roller coaster, and a “Human Laundry” funhouse were added. From 1909-15, Indianola Park was home field for the Columbus Panhandles professional football team.
